McDonnel Street and Aylmer Street North To Undergo Road Resurfacing Next Week

The work is expected to be completed in the late fall.

The westbound lane will be closed along McDonnel Street between Bethune Street and George Street and the closure of Aylmer Street between London Street and Brock Street shall be implemented along with the associated detours. As a result, local traffic is expected to experience delays within the construction limits.

The scope of work generally includes the installation/adjustments of select frames, covers and grates, minor curb removal, curb re-installations, milling of existing asphalt, application of emulsified asphalt tack coat, placement of top lift asphalt and application of pavement markings on McDonnel Street from Bethune Street to Water Street and Aylmer Street North from Murray Street to McDonnel Street.

Goodfellow Road and Stornoway Place to Undergo Road Resurfacing Starting No Earlier Than Monday

The City of Peterborough is planning road resurfacing of Goodfellow Road and Stornoway Place beginning the week of Monday.

The Contractor is tentatively scheduled to mobilize to the location starting Monday and expected to be completed by the late Fall.

The scope of work generally includes the installation/adjustment of select frames, covers and grates, minor curb removal, curb re-installations, milling of existing asphalt, application of emulsified asphalt tack coat, placement of top lift asphalt, and application of pavement markings on Goodfellow Road from Clonsilla Avenue to Chamberlain Street, Goodfellow Road from Sherbrooke Street to Talwood Drive and all of Stornoway Place.

To facilitate the work, traffic will experience lane shifts and, at times, will be reduced to one lane in each direction. As a result, it is expected that local traffic may experience delays within the construction limits.

Rotary Trail From Nassau Mills Road to Armour Road Closed For a Week For Repairs Starting Monday

The Rotary Trail from Nassau Mills Road to Armour Road will be closed for repairs beginning this Monday.

The work includes pavement crack sealing, saw cutting and removal of existing deteriorated asphalt at select locations, fine grading, placement of new asphalt where removed, application of emulsified asphalt tack coat and installation of hot mix asphalt overlay along the Rotary Trail from Nassau Mills Road to Armour Road.

The Rotary Trail from Nassau Mills to Armour Road will be closed for approximately seven days to facilitate this work. Alternate routes will be available, and users may follow the posted signs.

The work is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 3.

Lakefield's Trent Canal Bridge Closed to One Lane For Repairs On Tuesday

The Trent Canal Bridge in Lakefield/Township of Selwyn will be closed to one lane on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for repairs.

The closure is to finalize repairs to the expansion joint located on the west side of the Trent Canal Bridge to complete surface asphalt repairs prior to the end of August.

Traffic flagging operations will be in effect for the duration of the repairs.

Havelock's Plato Creek Bridge to Be Closed For Construction Starting Next Week Monday

Havelock’s Plato Creek Bridge is being closed to all traffic for construction starting next Monday and continuing until Sept. 30, announced by Peterborough County on Monday.

The bridge is located on the 6th Line in Township of Havelock Belmont Methuen,

The bridge will be closed to allow for the installation of new steel beam guide rails, concrete approach slabs, and a new asphalt-wearing surface.

During this period, the bridge will be closed entirely to all traffic.

Auburn Street to Undergo Repairs Beginning Aug. 19

Auburn Street will be closed for sewer replacements and spot repairs beginning on Aug. 19, announced by the City of Peterborough on Friday afternoon.

Access will be limited at the Armour Road and Dunlop Street intersection.

The scope of work includes replacing one section of sanitary sewer along Auburn Street and a section of storm sewer at the intersection of Parkhill Road East and Auburn Street.

The affected surface areas will be restored following the sewer replacements.

During the construction period, Auburn Street will be accessible exclusively through the intersection of Armour Road and Dunlop Street. The latter will be maintained in both directions at all times from Armour Road to Auburn Street.

Local traffic is expected to experience delays within the construction limits during project works.

The City has awarded the project to Accurex Inc. The work is scheduled to be completed by October.

The Trent Canal Bridge in Lakefield will be closed to one lane from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday for repairs.

The repairs are for welding to the expansion joint located on the west side of the Trent Canal Bridge in preparation for upcoming surface asphalt repairs to be completed prior to the end of August.

City to Make Improvements at Roughly 34 Transit Stops

Peterborough is planning to begin work on improving approximately 34 transit stops throughout the City beginning at the end of this month.

The contractor (Avion Construction Group Inc.) is expected to begin work at these locations between the end of July 2024 and June 2025 and plans to finish in the late summer to early fall next year.

The scope of work includes earth excavation, asphalt and concrete removals, restoration of concrete curbs and sidewalks, asphalt repairs, new concrete transit stop pads, landscaping with topsoil and sod, new transit stop signs and installation of transit stop shelters at select locations.

During construction, flagging operations and/or localized single-lane closures may be required while the work is being performed. As a result, local traffic is expected to experience some delays within the construction limits.

The scope of work includes replacing one section of sanitary sewer along Auburn Street, a section of storm sewer at the intersection of Parkhill Road East and Auburn Street and a section of sanitary sewer will be repaired at the intersection of Armour Road and Parkhill Road East.

Once the sewer work is complete, the impacted areas will be restored. To facilitate this work, traffic may be reduced to one in each direction during the project. Local traffic is expected to experience delays within the construction limits.

Armour Road and Hunter Street Intersection Undergoing Reconstruction to Be Completed In Two to Four Weeks

The Armour Road and Hunter Street intersection is undergoing construction to facilitate infrastructure improvements.

The intersection has been closed to through traffic since Tuesday, and the City anticipates closing it for two to four weeks with completion by late summer.

Armour Road will be closed to through traffic to facilitate this work until the works are completed. Access for local traffic (destination within the road closure) will be maintained during the closure. However, it is expected that local traffic may experience delays within the construction limits.

The scope of work generally includes the removal of existing infrastructure, earth excavation and grading, the installation of new storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water mains, concrete curbs and gutters, road base and asphalt road structure, streetlights, sidewalks, tree plantings, pavement markings, and regulatory signage as part of a full-scope road reconstruction.

The reconstruction limits are from Clifton Street to Hunter Street along Armour Road including the Hunter Street and Armour Road intersection.

The City previously awarded the project to Green Infrastructure Partners Inc. The Contractor re-mobilized to this location in March.
