/After two years off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade will return to Peterborough on Dec. 3.

Santa Claus To Appear At Dr. J's To Fundraise For SickKids Hospital On Dec. 18
/Santa Claus is coming to Dr. J’s BBQ & Brews for to have his picture taken for a meet and greet in a charity fundraiser for SickKids Toronto on Dec. 18 announced on Thursday.

Last year, Dr. J’s ran the same event in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association. They chose SickKids as the recipient of all fundraising proceeds as it holds sentimental value to owner Addison Brown and his family.
“This year, we have chosen a charity very close to our hearts, and one our family will soon get to know all too well,” he explained. “You may have heard that the Brown family will be expanding with two new little members, one of whom will be needing a little extra attention from the wonderful team at SickKids Toronto.”

“We feel so fortunate to have such wonderful care available to us and we are looking forward to giving back this Christmas,” said Addison.
Santa is appearing from noon until 6 p.m. for photo opportunities with a five-dollar donation. Gift wrapping is also available from Dec. 16-18 with any monetary donation.

The Santa Claus Parade in the Village of Warsaw Returns
/The Township of Douro-Dummer will host its annual Santa Claus Parade in the Village of Warsaw on Nov. 26 after a 2-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The parade will depart from the Warsaw Public Works Depot (1402 County Rd 4) at 5:00 p.m., and travel south to the Township Office, go right on Ford Street, right on Peterborough Street, right on Mill Street and left to return to the Public Works Depot.
Following the parade Millennium Park beside the Township Office (894 South St) will have treats, Christmas music, the tree lighting ceremony and visits with Santa.
Donations of crocheted or knitted mitts, scarves, toques or small lap blankets are welcome and will be donated to seniors to provide warmth and comfort. Donations can be put in plastic bags and dropped off at the Township Office, or brought to the tree lighting ceremony after the parade. The parade’s theme this year is “Together Again”.
Residents in the village are encouraged to have their Christmas lights up in an effort to light up the night and get into the holiday spirit.
Tickets to win a Gingerbread House can be purchased for $2 each or 3 for $5 and proceeds will be split between St. Joseph Catholic School and Warsaw Public School to support their breakfast programs.
Peterborough Petes Release Schedule and Route of Holiday Truck Tour
/The Coca-Cola Holiday Truck Tour is coming to Peterborough with a detailed map, approximate timelines and COVID-19 protocols released by the Peterborough Petes on Monday.

The tour takes place on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The festivities will begin where the Kinsmen Club Santa sleigh will depart Peterborough Memorial Centre (PMC).
The Holiday Truck Tour will be escorted by the Peterborough Police featuring three holiday trucks with Santa Claus and Petes mascot, Roger the mascot. Fans can track Santa, Roger, and the Christmas floats on the Petes Facebook page as Petes in-game host Courtney Bell broadcasts live from the route.

This initiative is a part of the Petes and C.O.P.S. (Community Oriented Partnerships and Support) program which sees players on the Petes roster matched with members of the Peterborough Police Service (PPS) Emergency Response Team (ERT), along with other members across multiple sections of the PPS. As part of the partnership, Petes players and PPS attend community events.

Fans are encouraged to share their experience by posting their photos and videos from the event to their social media accounts using the hashtags: #DeliverTheMagic #HolidayTruckTour, #PetesHaveFun, and to tag the Petes at @PetesOHLHockey.

Based on submissions from members of the community included on the route are a variety of residential areas including the south end, west end, north end, and East City. The drive-by will conclude at the PMC at 9:00 p.m.
To ensure the safety of the Holiday Truck tour and the public, the Petes and the Peterborough Police will be following and enforcing all safety measures and protocols in place from Peterborough Public Health. The Holiday Truck Tour crew will be distributing candy canes while on foot in certain residential areas.
