The City of Peterborough has announced Darryl Julott as the City’s new Director, Economic Development to lead the City’s new Economic Development Division, effective Feb. 10.
“Economic development activities, engagement and promotion are critical to the success of our community and the quality of life for residents,” said Mayor Jeff Leal. “We need to position Peterborough to foster sustainable development. By growing business activity, we can reduce the burden on the residential property tax base, which is essential for the financial health of our community.”
The City of Peterborough is creating an Economic Development Division following the City Council’s decision that the City will directly provide economic development services provided by an external, independent organization until the end of 2024.
“Darryl has a proven record as an exceptional leader, team builder, networker and innovator who exceeds goals and fosters sustainable economic growth,” said Jasbir Raina, CAO. “Darryl will successfully lead a high-performing team in building the foundation of our future and helping to grow the City’s economic development assets. He’s a tremendous addition to TeamPTBO.”
Before joining the City of Peterborough, Julott served as an Economic Development Officer in Clarington, as well as a senior leader at Digital Main Street, where he led strategic programs driving growth and investment, working with almost every economic development agency in the province, and supporting more than 100,000 businesses across the country with their digital transformation.
“I am looking forward to diving right in and immediately connecting and working with businesses in the City of Peterborough to contribute to fostering sustainable development and prosperity,” said Julott. “Peterborough is poised for real, exciting growth. It’s an ideal location for businesses of all sizes. I am eager to meet with businesses to discuss how we can best support their investments in Peterborough and to collaborate on new ideas and approaches.”
