Downtown Restaurant Brio Gusto Is Up For Sale

In a heartfelt note to its loyal customers posted to its Facebook page, Brio Gusto Restaurant & Wine Bar has announced that they are up for sale.

"I are writing to inform you that after 15 years in business, 10 years of making magic in the kitchen and 6 years as owner, I have placed Brio Gusto Restaurant & Wine Bar for sale," says owner Lindsey Dupuis in the Facebook post.

The Charlotte Street restaurant, which had celebrity Jerry Seinfeld visit it in 2014 for a meal after he played a show at the Memorial Centre, will be sorely missed by its patrons. The service and meals were fantastic, and they were heavily invested in giving back to the community.

Lindsey says in the Facebook post that after welcoming a new addition to their family recently, "we have had to make the hard decision to close Brio Gusto as it is and focus more on our family."

Their final night of service will be Friday, October 5th.

Curry Village Celebrating Incredible 23 Years In Downtown Peterborough

Iconic Indian restaurant Curry Village (306 George St. N) has been owned and operated by brothers Muslim and Shahidul Islam for 23 years.

The brothers immigrated to Peterborough from Bangladesh and decided a year later that the city had a culinary gap to fill and they went about filling it.

Celebrations begin with a special recognition event with Mayor Daryl Bennett, MP Maryam Monsef and DBIA executive director Terry Guiel this Friday, September 22 at 11:30 a.m at Curry Village.

"It is a great story to see a business have this long of a successful run in our downtown and we hope they continue to offer great Indian cuisine for many years to come," says Guiel.

The celebrations continue Saturday, September 23rd as the brothers host their yearly buffet special. This is something they do only once a year to celebrate each anniversary.

"Our buffet is a great chance to taste some of everything from our menu,” says Shahidul.

The Original Greek (724 Water Street) is closed for renovations.

The note in the window says they will be re-opening late August, but it's looking more like early September now.

The Only Cafe Turns 25

The Only Cafe—aka The Only—has been an institution on Hunter Street W. for 25 years now, an amazing community hub of ideas for university students and adults alike. (Not to mention some epic late night Shuffleboard matches there—and dances on the bar after a pint or two or three.)

It just turned 25 years old...
