Lansdowne Place Release Holiday Event Lineup Beginning Nov. 18

Lansdowne Place has released its holiday lineup activities involving Santa Claus and Black Friday beginning on Saturday.

“This year’s holiday lineup at Lansdowne Place inspires holiday memories and embraces the spirit of giving," said Patrick Fleurantin, Lansdowne Place marketing manager. “From interactive Santa experiences and photos, to unparalleled holiday shopping and family-friendly activities, our events are created for our guests and community to enjoy.”

Visit Lansdowne Place for events including:

• Storytime with Santa - Every Wednesday, beginning Nov. 22 through Dec. 13, families are invited for Storytime with Santa to enjoy timeless holiday tales by the fireplace. This family-friendly event is free for all to attend. To welcome Santa, Lansdowne Place will host a special Storytime with Santa event, PJ and Pancakes, on Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m., which will include storytime following Santa’s descent from the chimney and a pancake breakfast. Registration for PJs and Pancakes is $10 per child, with all proceeds supporting the Peterborough Humane Society. Register for a timeslot by visiting landsdowneplace.com.

• Photos with Santa – At Center Court from Saturday through December 24, guests can visit Santa’s Cottage and capture their special holiday moments.

• Silent Santa - Santa photo opportunities for those with sensory sensitivities will be available every Sunday beginning Sunday through Dec. 3, starting at 10 a.m. before the centre opens. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Autism Ontario.

• Baby's First Christmas - Parents are welcome to bring infants born after Dec. 25, last year, for a Baby’s First Christmas photo experience with Santa, including a complimentary 5x7 photo. Baby’s First Christmas occurs every Monday from Nov. 20 through Dec. 18.

• Paws n’ Claus - Every Tuesday and Thursday evening from Nov. 21 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., guests are invited to bring their pets for photos with Santa. Lansdowne Place will be accepting pet toys and treats onsite for donation to the Humane Society.

• Black Friday - Lansdowne Place will be open for extended hours on Black Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 24.

Grand Opening of Peterborough's Artisanal Retail Store, Handmade Heaven Hits Lansdowne Place

Lansdowne Place is now the home of an artisanal retail store, Handmade Heaven as lots of shoppers were lined outside the storefront for its grand opening on Monday morning.

The store features goods from over 70 different local businesses — including junior makers — that make 100 per cent of the sales in exchange for paying rent to use the retail space.

Local artisans that want to rent space in the store must fill out an application online.

“I know there's a huge artist community around here. I just did a calling and all the makers, the artists and all the talent basically did the rest and had an overflow of applications,” said Sam Milne, Handmade Heaven owner.

Milne has family connections with the ‘The Nooks,’ a chain that is a similar concept to what he is doing for Peterborough with Handmade Heaven. It has seen success with 18 locations in Canada including Vaughan Mills.

The storefront is located across from Dollarama on the upper floor. Milne had announced on his Instagram that Lansdowne Place that he was setting up shop in mid-March.

“As soon as I saw this location, I knew instantly that this was going to be the store,” explained Milne. “It's absolutely perfect, I know the people of Peterborough are going to come out and support. It's been above and beyond what I expected so far.”

Roughly over 50 people were lined up outside prior to the opening. Milne says the store is a great outlet for local artisans to be recognized and supported. Artists get up-to-date notifications on when their product gets sold in the story.

“(I) really try to get people out to support their local makers and see all the beautiful things there's handmade artists have actually made,” said Milne. “Every time one of these makers sells something with their hard work involved, they (customers) have no idea how much it means to these people when they see their sales.”

Couture Candy PTBO Announces Grand Opening Date of Lansdowne Place Location

Couture Candy PTBO’s second location on Lansdowne Place is having its grand opening on Sept. 3 announced on social media on Monday.

The second location was donated storefront space from Lansdowne Place offered to Lisa Couture, Couture Candy PTBO owner. The space was given to aid in her $10,000 fundraiser goal in support of Peterborough Regional Health Center Foundation for cancer care.

Couture says her business has had non-stop action in preparation for the Lansdowne storefront.

"We have to double our ordering,” she explained. “Our vendors are fantastic, most of them know what's happening so they're super-supportive and it's all hands on deck making sure that the time we're at the mall for the fundraiser is a huge success."

All select products sold at the store see $1 of each product towards the foundations. Several charity candy bags feature freeze-dried brand candy and assorted mixes.

During the store’s first six weeks of its 15-week campaign, $5,000 was raised with some assistance from local businesses. Reclaimed Garden Co. donated $255 while Jolly Painters within 10 minutes of the fundraiser update donated funds to make it exactly $5,000.

Donations can also be made at the store or online.

The Lansdowne location will have the same operating hours as the mall and will run until the end of the year.

Local Candy Shop is Donated Mall Storefront To Help Cancer Fundraiser

A sweet deal for Lisa Couture and her candygram store ‘Couture Candy PTBO’ as they were donated storefront space in Lansdowne Place to aid in their ‘Cancer Care is Sweet’ fundraiser announced Thursday.

The new storefront is located in Lansdowne Place between Journeys and Claire’s at the bottom of the escalator. Couture Candy PTBO is occupying the space until the end of the year.

The mall contacted Couture via e-mail about being given the storefront space which came as an unexpected yet pleasant surprise. The mall recognized the candygram store’s community efforts which resulted in the offer Couture could not refuse.

“They were figuring out how to work with us and admired our business because it’s so community-driven,” explained Couture. “It’s expensive to be in the mall and he thought our campaign was a perfect opportunity and they have an empty space.”

The fundraising proceeds go towards the Peterborough Regional Health Center Foundation for cancer care with a goal of $10,000. The campaign started on June 21 and runs until Oct. 3. However, if the campaign is running strong and donations continue near the end date, it will continue according to Couture.

“$10,000 is a lot for a small business so every little bit helps,” said Couture.

Lululemon Is Opening Seasonal Pop-Up Location At Lansdowne Place

Lululemon fans will love this: a pop-up location is opening at Lansdowne Place.

“Lansdowne Place is delighted to confirm that lululemon will open their seasonal pop-up location at the mall this Friday, August 16th,” Emily Dart, Marketing Director for Lansdowne Place, tells PTBOCanada.

The pop-up shop, which will be open until January 2020 at the mall, is located on the lower level across from RW & Co.

It will operate during full mall hours, which are as follows:

• Monday to Friday : 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

• Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Sunday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Peterborough Police Service And Lansdowne Place Mall Team Up For 12th Annual Cop Shop

The Peterborough Police Service and Lansdowne Place Mall are excited for the 12th Annual Cop Shop, a cherished holiday tradition for officers, mall staff and local children.

Started in 2006 by Peterborough Police Constable Leanda LeVasseur, Cop Shop partners a Peterborough Police Service officer with a local child based on good school citizenship, volunteer or academic achievement. The schools select the children that participate in the program.

HOW COP SHOP DAY WORKS

-> The children arrive at the mall in a limousine and are provided breakfast courtesy of Tim Hortons.

-> They are also generously provided with a $200 gift certificate from Lansdowne Place to spend on holiday shopping for family and friends.

-> The officer becomes the child’s personal shopper for the day and a bond is quickly formed. (All of the officers that participate in the program are volunteering during their off-duty time.)

-> Mall shops provide the kids with additional discounts and treats.

-> Purchases are wrapped and tagged by mall staff, and by volunteers from the community and the police service. Lunch caps off the event followed by a complimentary photo with Santa and their officer friend.

-> The students then enjoy a limousine ride back to their school courtesy of Welsh Limousine and Ulimate Limousine.

This year’s Cop Shop takes place on Wednesday, December 5th. The children will be arriving at the mall at approximately 9:30 a.m. and the event takes place until about 1:30 p.m.

Dinosaur Exhibit Coming To Lansdowne Place

A neat exhibit is currently under construction at Lansdowne Place Mall: Indian River Reptile Zoo will have a Dinosaur Exhibit on the lower level of the mall that is slated to open Monday, March 12th.

The exhibit will showcase a collection of 20-plus life-size dinosaurs—some of which even move and roar—creating a thrilling and educational experience for all ages to enjoy.

“I’m not sure who is more excited about dinosaurs coming to the mall, the adults or children!” says Emily Dart, Marketing Director for Lansdowne Place, Cushman Wakefield Asset Services. “We are always looking for opportunities to offer new experiences for the community to enjoy and could not be happier to partner with the Indian River Reptile Zoo to bring this exciting dinosaur exhibit to the mall.”

The exhibit will be located in the vacant unit between Payless and The Body Shop located on the lower level. Admission will be a minimum donation of $5 (per person) with all proceeds supporting the zoo and care of their reptiles.

Lansdowne Place Has A Silent Train On Sunday Mornings For Kids With Sensory Sensitivities

Lansdowne Place has launched a train at the mall this summer, and it's already been a hit with kids and their parents as Engineer Rick leads rides throughout the mall.

But those with sensory issues can also now enjoy "Lansdowne Place Station", as it's been fondly called by passengers. The mall has added a "Silent Train" to its trackless train inside the Shopping Centre on Sunday mornings before it opens for those with sensory sensitivites.

As many mall-goers know, the innovative mall has been running a "Silent Santa" as well for years during the Christmas season, and the mall wanted to offer the same experience to those families who want to use the train.

"There are many families in the community that benefit from our Silent Santa program so when we were asked by a parent if the mall would also host silent train rides, the answer was YES," says LP's marketing director Emily Dart. "We understand that the mall can be very overwhelming for an individual with sensory sensitivities, which is why the Silent Train runs each Sunday morning before Lansdowne Place opens. This will allow families to enjoy the train without the distraction of busy crowds and loud noises."

The "Silent Train" runs Sunday mornings from 10 a.m. to 10:45 am. on the upper level of the mall until August 27th.

Lansdowne Place Station: LP Introduces Train Rides For Kids This Summer

Lansdowne Place has just launched a train at the mall for this summer, and it's already been a hit with kids and their parents.

“This summer you can call us Lansdowne Place Station!” LP Marketing Director Emily Dart tells PTBOCanada. “We’re always looking for new activities families can enjoy together so when we had the opportunity to bring a trackless train inside the Shopping Centre, we jumped at the idea!"

The train, run by Train Engineer Rick, will operate during the months of July and August and alternate between the lower level and upper level of the Centre each day. Weather permitting, it might even go outside some days!

The train costs $3 a person and children under one are free. All ages are invited to join in so the mall hopes to see everyone try it out over the Summer months.
