Art School Of Peterborough Open House Is September 21st

On Sunday, September 21st, the Art School of Peterborough (located at 174A Charlotte Street) will be holding its Fall Open House from noon to 3:00 p.m. Come view their expanded studio location, meet the instructors, see them at work and try out some material. Smashing Pumpkins: The Art School of Peterborough Pumpkin Contest

The Art School of Peterborough is hosting a Pumpkin carving contest. Post a photo of your carved pumpkin (this year or prior) on The Art School of Peterborough's Facebook page, and every "Like" that it gets will be counted as a vote. Voting ends October 30th at 11 p.m. and the "Pumpkin King" will be announced on Hallowe'en Day.
The Rules:
- All photos submitted must be carved by the person or family entering.
- The pumpkin does not have to be created this year, it could be a photograph of last year’s pumpkin.
- Allow your creativity to soar, there are no limits as to what mediums you wish to add to your pumpkin.
- You can vote for more than one pumpkin on their Facebook page.

Tucked away in Charlotte Mews in our downtown is the ever popular Art School of Peterborough (178A Charlotte St.). This not-for-profit organization is run by Director Jenni Johnston and has been in operation for 19 years now, opening in Lakefield and moving to its current location shortly after.
Upon entering and discovering its multi-level facility, you realize how much happens inside its bustling walls. From oil painting and water colour to photography, pottery and fused-glass making, this school has something for everyone with a creative spirit. If you’re a fan of the movie Ghost, you'll be happy to know that they offer Pottery Date Nights which are very popular!
Fun at art campThe school operates year round, and offers everything from 1 and 2 day short courses to 8 week classes. One of its biggest hits throughout the year is the offering of camps for children aged 6 to 12.
These camps are week long experiences with a variety of themes geared towards opening the eyes of youngsters to the world of art. Spaces are limited so registering early is recommended.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Art School is having an "Art Market in the Mews" on June 15th. This birthday celebration is being held with kid’s crafts, face painting, popcorn, and a birthday cake to celebrate with! This happens on the same day as the Taste of Downtown Celebration. On June 8th, the School is having its “Stories” art auction from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., which is another great event.
The school gladly offers bursaries, and has annual fundraisers—in November with its Art Auction, and in February with its Art-a-Thon. Being a not-for-profit, it is always looking for volunteers to assist in its classes and has found this to be popular amongst high school aged students looking to complete their volunteer hours.
If you haven’t discovered the Art School of Peterborough, now is the time! They continue to add to their class options and have something for everyone!

David Goyette Community Fundraising Event For Art School Of Peterborough

An occasional painter, David Goyette has completed ten new canvasses for the purpose of their sale in support of The Art School of Peterborough. Each piece is large scale abstract in acrylic, measuring 30 by 40 inches.
A not-for-profit organization with charitable status, The Art School of Peterborough is dedicated to providing a professional level of instruction to both adults and children in a wide variety of studio media. The proceeds from the sale of David’s art will help fund the Richard Hayman Youth Bursary for young people who have an interest in art but are unable to pursue it due to financial constraints.
The show and sale of David’s art is open to all and will take place on Wednesday (May 8th) at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 120 Murray Street (at Water Street). Doors open at 5 p.m. and a presentation takes place at 5.30 p.m.

The Art School Of Peterborough Summer Camp Season Has Begun

The Art School of Peterborough's new season of Kids Summer Art Camps begins today (July 9th).
The All In One camps gives children ages 6 to 12 the opportunity to create with drawing, painting, pottery and sculpture mixed media.
All In One Camps are scheduled for the weeks of July 9 to 13, July 16 to 20, July 23 to 27, August 7 to 10, August 13 to 17 and August 20 to 24.
There is still space available in the sessions, which run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. Registration is available online at Artschoolptbo.org or call the school at 705-742-3221 for more info.
