The Starter Company Plus program is returning for Peterborough and the Kawarthas in five weeks of business training for entrepreneurs with applications being taken until Sept. 30.
It is designed to provide in-person business training for entrepreneurs in the City and County who are launching or expanding a business that has been operating for five years or less. The program provides one-on-one consultations with the program facilitator and training with experts who guide entrepreneurs through writing a business plan according to a press release.
“We are excited to have our 10th intake since 2017 be delivered in person at VentureNorth in downtown Peterborough,” said Madeleine Hurrell, Manager of the Peterborough & the Kawarthas Business Advisory Centre. “Entrepreneurship can often be a solo journey and for many, forming personal connections and sharing ideas is a valuable takeaway from this program.”
The program has helped businesses to grow from early-stage startups to retail enterprises and to grow their teams, product lines and marketing channels as stated by Invest PTBO. Benefits for all participants of the program also include a six-month trial membership with the Peterborough and the Kawarthas Chamber of Commerce, as well as a conditional preapproved microloan from Community Futures Peterborough.
“Participants who successfully complete the program and submit a final business plan and pitch to our panel of judges have an opportunity to receive one of six $5,000 microgrants to start or grow their business,” said Hurrell.
