Peterborough Century 21 Lakers Fail To Clinch Second Place With 13-10 Loss
/The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers get one more chance to secure second place and a home Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) playoff game after losing to Brooklin Lacrosse Club 13-10 on the road at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre Wednesday night.
Brooklin had an early 2-0 lead but the Lakers got going with a 6-1 run to lead 6-3 after the first.
Brooklin scored six of their own in the second to Peterborough’s two goals, giving the home team a 9-8 lead after two.
Peterborough could not repel Brooklin’s special teams as they netted two power play goals to seal the victory.
Kiel Matisz led the way offensively for Peterborough with three goals and a pair of assists. Connor Kearnan and Dyson Williams had four goals apiece and combined for four assists to lead Brooklin.
The Lakers are in third place sitting at one point Brooklin but can clinch second place in their home-and-home rematch Thursday night.
The winner between the two clubs gets a home playoff game for their first-round series.
