Flying Colours Corp. To Open Brand New 100,000 Square Foot Hangar In Peterborough By Mid-2019

As part of its global expansion, global aviation company Flying Colours has announced that plans are currently being finalized for the groundbreaking of a brand-new hangar by the end of fall 2018 at the Peterborough, Ontario facility.

The additional hangar—the fourth at Flying Colours Peterborough headquarters—is needed to provide additional capacity for completions, refurbishment and heavy maintenance work scopes on large jet airframes.

THE HANGAR WILL BE DIVIDED INTO 3 DISTINCT ZONES…

-> A new 40,000-square-feet, climate controlled, state-of-the-art paint shop will be added, supplementing the two existing dedicated paint shops. (It will be large enough to accommodate business jets up to Global 7500, Boeing Business Jet or Airbus A220 size airframes.)

-> A second area of 40,000 square feet has been designed to enable heavy maintenance and/or interior work on up to four Global 6000-size aircraft to take place simultaneously.

-> Two higher levels will be used for new customer offices, a second dedicated design-center at the facility, storage and general office space.

The total office space will cover more than 20,000 square feet, bringing the hangar footprint at Peterborough Airport to more than 100,000 square feet in total when it opens in mid-2019.

Have Your Say On The City’s Upcoming Website Redesign

The City of Peterborough is redesigning their website Peterborough.ca according to a media release and they want the site to provide residents and businesses with easier access to City information and services.
 
The first step of the redesign is to understand what City residents and business owners want in the new website. Consultation will include a brief Online Survey for all City residents and a Focus Group open to any interested parties.

The online survey is now available here, and is open until Monday, July 30th, 2018 at 4:30 p.m.

The Focus Group to discuss how the website is structured is scheduled for Wednesday, September 12th, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Peterborough Public Library, in the Friends of the Library Community Room.

World-Class Exhibition Design Firm Has Joined New Canoe Museum Project

The Canadian Canoe Museum will partner with world-class exhibition design firm GSM Project to create one-of-a-kind visitor experiences at its new building beside the Peterborough Lift Lock on the Trent-Severn Waterway.

GSM Project—with offices in Montreal, Dubai and Singapore—has an extensive CV: It was the lead designer of the new Canadian History Hall at the Canadian Museum of History (the largest exhibition about Canadian history ever developed) and has also recently completed The Alaska Gallery at the Anchorage Museum, Human at the Montreal Science Centre, and much more.

GSM Project will work with the Canoe Musuem to ensure that the world's largest collection of canoes, kayaks and paddled watercraft is not only exhibited but experienced by all those who visit the new museum at the water's edge.

GSM Project has been chosen to work alongside staff and the Exhibit Design Committee to create visitor experiences in two key areas of the new museum:

1. Exhibition Galleries -> Approximately 21,000 square feet of Class A (curatorial standard) exhibit space expected to feature 10 to 12 galleries.
2. Collections Centre -> Approximately 28,000 square feet of Class A (curatorial standard) open storage space, featuring more than 500 full-sized watercraft stored on individual mounts and arranged on racking systems.

For the first time, the museum's entire collection will be on site and totally accessible as part of the visitor experience.
