Peterborough Theatre Guild Presents: Outside Mullingar (Jan. 30)
Peterborough Theatre Guild Presents: Outside Mullingar.
Anthony and Rosemary are two introverted misfits straddling 40.
Anthony has spent his entire life on a cattle farm in rural Ireland, a state of affairs that—due to his painful shyness—suits him well.
Rosemary lives right next door, determined to have him, watching the years slip away.
With Anthony’s father threatening to disinherit him and a land feud simmering between their families, Rosemary has every reason to fear romantic catastrophe.
But then, in this very Irish story with a surprising depth of poetic passion, these yearning, eccentric souls fight their way towards solid ground and some kind of happiness.
Their journey is heartbreaking, full of laughter, and ultimately deeply moving.
Outside Mullingar is a compassionate, delightful work about how it’s never too late to take a chance on love.

Peterborough Theatre Guild Presents: Silent Sky (Mar. 21)
Peterborough Theatre Guild Presents: Silent Sky
When Henrietta Leavitt begins work at the Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s, she isn’t allowed to touch a telescope or express an original idea.
Instead, she joins a group of women “computers,” charting the stars for a renowned astronomer who calculates projects in “girl hours” and has no time for the women’s probing theories.
As Henrietta, in her free time, attempts to measure the light and distance of stars, she must also take measure of her life on Earth, trying to balance her dedication to science with family obligations and the possibility of love.
The true story of 19th-century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt explores a woman’s place in society during a time of immense scientific discoveries, when women’s ideas were dismissed until men claimed credit for them.
Social progress, like scientific progress, can be hard to see when one is trapped among earthly complications; Henrietta Leavitt and her female peers believe in both, and their dedication changed the way we understand both the heavens and Earth.

Public Energy Presents Murmuration by Le Patin Libre at Peterborough Memorial Centre
Public Energy Performing Arts is bringing the internationally-renowned contemporary dance company Le Patin Libre to the Peterborough Memorial Centre on April 8, 2025 at 7:30pm with their performance Murmuration.
Peterborough will be the last stop on a tour that takes the company across the United States and Canada.
Based in Montreal, Le Patin Libre, has assembled a company of 15 virtuoso skaters from 7 countries.
Together they perform the original dance on ice, Murmuration, based on the aerial ballets of swarms of birds.
Like a murmuration, the dancers move at high speeds around the entire rink, nearly careening into each other, coming together as one, instantly changing direction and splitting into separate flocks.
The visual effect combines with the sharp sounds of blades cutting across ice and spraying snow as they continuously stop and start – altogether an unforgettable performing arts experience.
Ticket Info:
Tickets are available from the Peterborough Memorial Centre Box Office.

Peterborough Theatre Guild Presents: Outside Mullingar (Jan. 25)

UK Calling at Market Hall
UK Calling is coming to Peterborough!
Fresh from a string of sold-out shows across Ontario in 2024, UK Calling is bringing the best of Post Punk, New Wave and 2Tone Ska to Peterborough for the first time! Join the band to celebrate the alternative vibes of the era at Market Hall on Saturday, January 11. This is your exclusive invitation to an evening where nostalgia isn't just welcomed; it's celebrated.UK Calling always make it a night to remember, so get out your black eye-liner, dust off your docs and get ready to dance all night!
Not just some 80s show, UK Calling pay tribute to an era, a vibe and a style. Just like Toronto’s old CFNY-FM, this show brings alternative hits from the late ’70s and ’80s, focusing on artists like The Clash, Tears for Fears, The Cure and The Specials; the repertoire covers the best from New Wave, Post-Punk and 2tone Ska from the era.
What separates this show from the rest is the energy brought to the performance. More than a pair of wayfarers and a cheesy synthesizer, this band digs in and works their hearts out to bring audiences a dynamic and animated show that keeps people dancing all night. UK Calling play the songs that nobody else does. Style Council, Joy Division, Madness – if you know who these are, you will love UK Calling. For those that are new to the genre, the engaging performance and the world-class tenor voice of entrancing frontman Peter James Fox, will pull you in and take you on a journey that will leave you saying ‘Wow!’
Since 2018, UK Calling has been the name on everyone's lips, turning ordinary nights into extraordinary memories. So, why settle for the usual when you can be part of something truly special?
