Peterborough's Brianna Gosselin—who is constantly helping get the word out about missing and injured pets in the community—has encountered a rather unique situation, and she needs your help regarding an affectionate, beautiful stray cat we'll call PTBO...
As Brianna explains:
"I was doing some computer work a little past midnight and kept hearing all this meowing. I had just seen a group of older teens go by so I waved it off as them just having some silly fun.
Well, the meowing continued, so I went out to investigate. I looked up and down the street and found nothing. Our neighbours were out looking too for they were concerned an animal was crying from being injured. As we were talking, a small cat (a 6-8 month old kitten to be exact) came wandering over. I picked him up after he sniffed me over to check him out. He had a bit of diarrhea. I called my sister and we took him to the vet immediately as he was a bit thin and worried about dehydration.
The vet has confirmed he is a stray and a young cat being around 6-8 months, since his adult teeth look like they just came in. He was dehydrated and received care for sure. He has been treated with fleas and is on a special pro biotic along with a liquid to help with his digestion and stomach upset. The vet says besides that he is in good health.
I need to find this beautiful little boy a home as my dog does not get along with cats, and my partner and I are both allergic. My sister just rescued two cats in September and also has a dog so her house is a bit full at the moment. Do you know of anyone who could help find this sweetheart a home? He is the most affectionate cat I have ever seen."

Two Young Boys Donated Their Chore Money To Riverview Park & Zoo
/This summer two young boys (Nathan and Andrew) came to the Riverview Park and Zoo and donated their allowance to the zoo—along with this nice note and picture below.
And there is more. Zoo Manager and Curator Jim Moloney tells PTBOCanada: "Just last week, Nathan had a birthday party and instead of getting presents, he raised money to adopt one of our animals (a Brazilian Agouti). These are some pretty special boys!" Indeed.
Help to support an animal friend of your choice through the zoo's Animal Adoption program. Adoption fees help contribute to animal care, nutrition, and enrichment for the animal that you adopt! Call 705.748.9301 x2331 for more information on the adoption program.

Peterborough Girl Turns 8, Asks For Donations To Humane Society Instead Of Birthday Presents
/Georgia Dueck is an amazing girl. For her 8th birthday Wednesday (August 26th), she asked that in lieu of presents for her, her friends bring donations for the Peterborough Humane Society.
"The idea started for Georgia when we adopted our cat Sumo from the Humane Society in December 2013," her proud mom, Sandra, tells PTBOCanada. "Sumo was one of four cats left in a duffle bag outside the shelter two or three weeks before Christmas that year."
"When it came time to plan her 7th birthday that year, Georgia asked if she could do something for the Humane Society, like ask her friends to bring donations instead of gifts," Sandra says.
Georgia designed her jar label and her parents—Sandra and Jeff—told her friends what she was doing. For her 7th birthday, Georgia raised about $160 in cash and online donations—and about another $75 to $100 in pet supplies. This year, for her 8th birthday, she raised over $200 in cash and online donations and another $75 to $100 in supplies.
"Needless to say, we’re very proud of her and her giving spirit," Sandra tells PTBOCanada.
Kudos to Georgia, and her friends for their giving spirit.

Here's A Woodpecker In Bridgenorth Dealing With Its Youngster Having A Temper Tantrum
/All parents out there have to contend with children who sometimes lose their cool and have temper tantrums—especially around meal times.
Well the same thing happens in the bird world, gauging from video Barry Mortin shot of Pileated Woodpeckers on his balcony in Bridgenorth, Ont., near Peterborough.
"We love watching these pileated woodpeckers come to feed," Mortin tells PTBOCanada. "They are quite comical to watch—especially when this giant bird mounts our small suet feeder. The parent started bringing the youngster a couple of weeks ago and I became a little obsessed with getting some decent footage of the feedings. I set up a blind that allowed me to get up close and personal with the birds without scaring them off. They come several times a day and the baby always whines impatiently while the parent loads its beak."
There is a lot of pecking between parent and child in the video and the delinquent pecker also vandalizes Mortin's deck, but "fortunately the youngster has left the rail of our deck alone since when this was shot" Mortin tells PTBOCanada.
