Peterborough's Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre is vital in saving turtle's lives. Their mission is to protect and conserve Ontario’s native turtles and the habitat in which they live. They operate a turtle hospital that treats, rehabilitates and releases injured turtles.

The eggs were laid by mothers receiving care at the hospital and incubated at KTTC.

"She was after bird food," Mortin tells PTBOCanada. "She had been coming at night but I started bringing the feeder in after dark. She then started coming in the afternoon and gorging herself. Sometimes she would bring a friend—likely a brother or sister."

Also note in the video how the suet feeder has been opened and emptied. That is also the work of this raccoon, Mortin tells us.

Someone Stole A Gecko From Peterborough Reptile

Peterborough Police report that someone has stolen a Leachie Gecko out of a terrarium at Peterborough Reptile on The Parkway.

The Gecko was stolen on April 16th at approximately 2:30 a.m., when unknown person(s) broke into the store by breaking the glass to the front door.

The Leachie gecko is a large species of gecko and is light brown in colour. This type of Gecko is very rare and is one of the few in the province.

The gecko is valued at $800.
